Good morning lovelies!

Looking through my archives, I suddenly realised that I hadn’t shown you the cover shoot for May issue of Wedding DAY yet, let alone of the last two issues! So let’s make amends and today I’ll be showing you the whimsical set-up we created for the Alice in Wonderland-themed shoot, photographed as always by Jessica Moritz.

As a girl I loved reading Alice in Wonderland, and I fell in love with it again after seeing Tim Burton’s interpration. So it was a dream come true to design such a whimsical and fun setup! I had so much fun inserting allusions to the novel … a tea party, clocks, books, keys, flamingoes, all in several shades of pink, purple, blue and yellow … and it was hilarious seeing the whole team carrying this huge table and boxes upon boxes of props to the middle of nowhere!

Arabella, the stunning model, was wearing a lovely ballroom gown with a champagne bow at the waist from Wedding Bells. The top hat fascinator and the pretty little gloves were perfect for the look!

For this shoot, I designed three separate areas … The first was an area where guests could find ‘The Key to their Seat’. I hung vintage skeleton keys together with tags calligraphed by Charmaine Falzon (charmainefalzon@gmail.com) to this awesome gate featuring some pretty flamingoes!

I’m in love with this tablescape, if I may say so :). I layered various tablecloths, then we filled the table with vintage books, vintage cups and saucers and jugs filled with beautiful anemones and tulips. Cuppy Cakes baked some delicious cookies and chocolate lollipops, which we used as centrepieces as well.

As placecards, I had wanted something edible. Cuppy Cakes came up with these amazing mini cakes, with the guest’s initial on top … They were beyond pretty!

tea station

What would a tea party be without a tea station? Charlene from Soap Cafe was kind enough to mix some teas for us, and I set up a table where guests could sample the different teas. We also had little lace bags that guests could use to take some tea home.
