Unfortunately confetti is the last thing on many brides’ minds, let alone the packaging thereof. Apart from photographing beautifully, confetti can also be a beautiful customised detail.

I have rounded up some other options instead of the usual paper confetti. Birdseed (spotted here) is more eco-friendly than paper, and I’m sure the birds will have as much fun afterwards as you do in your ‘getaway’. For those with a DIY streak, why not try making these pompoms? They are very easy to make, and can easily be customised to suit your wedding colours. I’m loving these departure planes (spotted here) … aren’t they perfect for a travel-themed wedding? These colourful felt hearts (spotted here) are cut out by hand … yes, each and every one! For those of you who want to preserve tradition, they should try these rice butterflies (spotted here). Rice used to be thrown to represent wishes of fertility and prosperity. The only problem was that rice hurt. These beautiful rice butterflies are made out of rice (hence, natural and biodegradable), but are similar to floating confetti. For those who love vintage and/or books, these paper hearts cut out of vintage books are perfect!
You can also get creative in the packaging of confetti. These striped confetti cones were made by the bride herself, using only card and watercolour pencils … simple but effective! Or you can follow this bride‘s tutorial on making these fun pouches for confetti. Some sewing is required but otherwise they are as simple as can be! One of my favourite finds is the confetti made out of map cut-outs (again, perfect for a travel-themed wedding) and attached to your ceremony program. Nancy of Creatus Design created a tutorial for confetti pouches. Although the last find is actually calling cards, wouldn’t it look gorgeous customised with your names or monogram?
And while we’re on the subject of confetti, I couldn’t help posting these confetti-related finds. Why restrict confetti to throwing when it could be used in anything, from invites to cakes? These party-popper invites would be so cool for your save-the-dates. True, they require some amount of work, but wouldn’t they set the tone just right? As does this colourful confetti invitation. Or why not have confetti on your cake (spotted here) overflowing from a champagne coupe? Decadent and fun!
